Ever wanted you own arcade cabinet? Ever wondered if you have the patience to cut all that wood or posses the DIY skills manage it? Ever looked for any easy way out?
If the answer to all these questions is yes, then you may well like this article. I first stumbled upon this mini tabletop MAME conversion using an IKEA cabinet about a year ago. As soon as I saw it I knew it was going to be a great read and I was already worried I would be trying to make my own pretty soon. Well so far I’ve resisted the temptation to make my own MAME tabletop gaming cabinet but after revisiting it again im starting to get the itch again.
The creator of this very cool and very stylish gaming machine is Frederic Sebto and you can check out his blog here. Very kindly Frederic Sebton has covered the process step by step and even though an Apple laptop is used in the example you could of course use a desktop pc in the cabinet without any trouble, and simply add a small form 2nd hand or new lcd monitor to power the display.
Fortunately for me IKEA is a good hours drive away and I usually only go around once a year. I’ve already been once this year so chances are I will be able to resist the temptation, for at least a little while longer.
