Cosmic Prison Commando is a PC retro game demo by Carnivac and is reminiscent of games like Switchblade and Turrican. In fact i think i read that the music may be taken from Switchblade but don’t quote me on that i have a bad habit of skim reading pretty quickly. Either way Cosmic Prison Commando is pretty cool and has some tasty graphics done in the Amstrad CPC Mode 0 for retro goodness.
The game itself is a 8 way scrolling platormer shooter where you get power ups kill the bad guys and unlock doors while making your way through the level. The power ups are well done and definitely make it easier to dispatch some of the flying robots you come across. As i mentioned before the graphics are pretty cool, and i have stumbled upon Carnivac’s site before and he’s a talented pixel artist and has quite a few games that he’s created on his main homepage.
So lets take a look at some of the graphics from Cosmic Prison Commando.
